Eva Meier is a classically trained violinist and fiddle player from New England. She studied classical violin performance through high school and college, attending the pre-college division of the Mannes school of music and playing with the New York Youth Symphony. She has a BA in music performance from the university of Massachusetts Amherst.
Eva also has a strong background in tradition Irish fiddle playing and spent a year in Co. Clare Ireland playing music. She won a grant from the Connecticut Historical Society to study with fiddle player Dan Foster and was also accepted into the masters program at the university of Limerick for traditional music performance.
Eva is a multifaceted and creative musician with years of teaching and performing experience, who enjoys working with students of all ages. As both a violinist and a fiddle player she is comfortable teaching by ear and by notation. She likes to look at music holistically and believes in finding personal and creative approaches to students individual musical goals. she wants her students to connect to the roots of the music they’re playing and to love the sound they’re making.
