Twenty five year old trumpeter, Jeremy Turgeon, was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts. Born into a family of music lovers, it is no surprise that music ended up being his career choice. First picking up the trumpet at age 11, Jeremy took to the horn. Upon entering the Springfield High School of Science and Technology – Jeremy was immediately placed into the concert ensembles. Under the direction of 2013 Music Educator Grammy Nominee, Gary Bernice, he would become the bands first Drum Major as a Sophomore and the Band’s President as a Senior. During his junior and senior years Jeremy successfully auditioned for the MMEA Western District Orchestra and sat Principle and Second chair. He would also go on to sit in with the United States Navy Band as well as first chair in the MA Lions All State Concert and Jazz Bands, UMASS Honor Band and CMG Jazz Ensembles. Jeremy graduated from high school with the highest musical honors given to date. In January of 2013, Jeremy was accepted into the prestigious Berklee College of Music. It was there that he would receive his first set of consistent private lessons with professors – Scott DeOgburn, Charlie Lewis, and Christine Fawson. He left Berklee after the summer of 2014, but he keeps his connections with the school strong and performs there at least once a year.
Jeremy has been seen performing at numerous venues and festivals. Some of the most notable being: Musikfest, Rockwood Music Hall, Shrine World Music Venue, Lincoln Center (Out of Doors), Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos, Litchfield Jazz Festival, Springfield Jazz and Roots Festival, Indie Soul Festival, Stone Soul Festival, Gloucester Blues Fest and many more. Over the years, he has been able to work with many local, regional, national, and international artists including: Avery Sharpe, Shana Wilson, Doobie Powell, Jerry Bergonzi, Wali Ali, Braxton Cook, Billy Arnold, Heshima Moja, Alex “Mr. Bassman” Moran, Abi Robles, Asa “Ace” Livingston, Johnny Rawls, Tony “Thunder” Smith, Marty Walsh, Danny “D Mo” Morris, Nichelle J. Mungo, Cleveland P. Jones, Taylor Ho Bynum, Magdalena Gomez, Jo Sallins, Marcus Pitts, Jim “Mondongo” Messbauer, Linda Henderson, and Natalie “Redd” McKnight.
Currently, Jeremy is the trumpeter for the Christian Cathedral (Also former Music Director 2014-2017), Michelle Brooks-Thompson (NBC’s The Voice), his own band – the Jeremy Turgeon Quintet and most recently putting together “Lines on the Fly” – a four-piece horn section available for Studio and live performances. In the midst of performing, and recording, Jeremy is also a faculty member of the prestigious Community Music School of Springfield. There he teaches Trumpet, and Intro to Music Production. Lastly, he works within CMSS’s award winning Community Partnership Program, Sonido Musica. He and a group of CMSS faculty travel to 20 schools in the Springfield Public School district, creating music programs in schools where they don’t already exist, and enriching the music education students receive if they already have a band program.
